An invoice that is easy to pay gets paid sooner. Printing a UPI QR code in a TallyPrime invoice lets customers pay from their phone in seconds, and correct bank details let larger customers pay by NEFT or RTGS without calling you first. This guide covers how to set up UPI payment requests in TallyPrime, how to put the QR code on the invoice, and what to do when you have more than one bank account.

Step 1: Set up UPI payment requests

TallyPrime can generate payment requests as a link or QR code. Before the QR code can appear on an invoice, you create a payment request profile for UPI with your merchant or UPI details. Tally explains the setup in its guide to digital payment requests in TallyPrime via UPI. Once the profile exists, you can generate a link or QR code while recording the invoice or later.

Step 2: Print the QR code on the invoice

  1. Open the sales invoice and press Ctrl+P (Print).
  2. Choose Configure.
  3. Set the method of payment request to QR Code.
  4. Print or export to PDF and check that the code scans correctly from a phone.

Always test-scan the first invoice. Check that the payee name shown in the UPI app is your business and the amount matches the invoice.

Step 3: Get bank details right

Customers who pay by bank transfer copy your account number and IFSC from the invoice, so these must be exactly right. Keep one source of truth for your bank details in TallyPrime, check the printed invoice against a cancelled cheque once, and update it the day an account changes.

Layout tips for a payable invoice

  • Put payment details near the total, not hidden in the footer.
  • Size the QR code so it scans from a printed copy and a phone screen.
  • Label it clearly: "Scan to pay with any UPI app".
  • Keep the amount and invoice number visible next to the payment details, so customers can quote them.

More than one bank account?

Businesses with several bank accounts often want a specific account on a specific invoice: one for a branch, one for exports, one for a large customer. The standard print shows the bank details you have configured; choosing or showing several accounts usually needs a print customization. AndurilTech lists a Multiple Bank Details add-on and a source-code TDL to change the print position of bank details with a UPI QR code. Read each product page for what it covers and the release it supports.

Follow up the invoices that are still unpaid

A QR code makes paying easy, but some customers still need a reminder. Pair your invoices with bill-wise tracking, explained in our guide to bill-wise outstanding in TallyPrime, and send reminders with the same payment details.

Frequently asked questions

How do I print a UPI QR code on a TallyPrime invoice?

First set up a payment request profile for UPI in TallyPrime. Then press Ctrl+P (Print), choose Configure, and set the method of payment request to QR Code so it appears on printed and PDF invoices.

Is the QR code different for each invoice?

TallyPrime's payment requests can generate a link or QR code per transaction, so the customer pays the exact amount against that invoice. Check how your release and payment profile are configured.

Can I show more than one bank account on an invoice?

Many businesses want a different account per customer or branch. The standard print shows your configured bank details; showing several accounts or choosing one per invoice usually needs an add-on or a custom print format.
